Director

Iftekhar Ahmed is a known media educationist and a TV professional.He started his long and distinguished career from Delhi Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) in 1982 as a production person. His interest in media education led him to join the prestigious Film & TV Institute of India (FTII),Pune, as a faculty member in 1987.Later he worked as Dean (Television) & Director of FTII (1996 -2014). Besides teaching TV & allied subjects at FTII, he introduced & conducted various innovative projects, 6 new P.G.courses, short and in-service courses for media professionals,and produced and directed TV programmes and teaching resources. In 2004, he was appointed as Director of the reputed AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (AJKMCRC), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi by the Visitor of the university.

He worked as Director of AJKMCRC for over 9 years (2004-2009 & 2015-2019) where he taught & looked after the Ph.D.programme, 7 P.G. courses, an educational TV Channel (Swayam Prabha), Electronic Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), J.B. Media Resource Centre & Radio Jamia.Five new courses were introduced and several projects were started at AJKMCRC during his period. He has also worked as Director of Electronic Media Production Centre (EMPC),IGNOU,Delhi & managed two TV Channels of Gyan Darshan,37 F.M. radio stations called Gyan Vani & the EMPC Production House during the year 2014 & 2015. He has directed a large number of TV/Video programmes for telecast and educational purposes and has lectured at and assisted various universities and institutions for their vision documents, designing of syllabi of media courses and developing the infrastructure for research and academic programmes. He has also worked as a jury member of International Film Festivals, National Film Awards, Doordarshan Annual Awards, International Science Film Festivals (Vigyan Prasar), Prakriti Film Festivals, NCERT and CEC annual Video Competitions & other film festivals.

He has organized national and international film and video festivals at FTII & AJKMCRC. He has represented AJKMCRC,FTII and govt.of India at various national & international fora in India & abroad. He has actively contributed to media profession and higher education as a member of a number of Advisory Boards, Executive Councils, Academic Councils, Selection Committees & Board of Studies of various institutions, universities, TV channels and organizations like Doordarshan, Films Division, National Film Archive, UGC & UPSC & UNESCO. He did his P.G.Course in Mass Communication & Journalism from AMU, Aligarh & received his Ph.D. degree on TV from University of Pune. He has also done P.G.Courses in TV Production (FTII), Art Appreciation (National Gallery of Modern Art) & various specialized courses in media.
