Photography is both a science and an art. It is an artistic and creative medium of communication and expression, the camera replacing the pen or the paintbrush. A photographer must be able to create a meaningful and interesting image of a subject or object, a piece of machinery, the beauty of human gesture or posture, an event, scenery or an animal behaviour to communicate an idea or information or creativity. Pictures are powerful means of communication like poetry or a painting. A well composed picture can speak more than thousands of words. Few vocations offer a larger variety of prospects than does photography. Photography is also a highly creative and satisfying hobby practiced worldwide. Photography is divided into many streams each generating numerous artistic expressions and job opportunities. A massive growth in advertising, fashion and cultural industries, creative, wildlife or event photography etc., has made photography a lucrative and satisfying career option and a hobby. Photography has emerged as a popular career choice among all the age groups. Mobile phones are now fitted with very good cameras in view of its popularity and necessity in different walks of life.
